The Neuroscience Group focuses on the structural and functional organization of the nervous system, ranging from molecular and cellular levels to perceptual and behavioral phenomena. Several techniques are employed, such as neuronal tracing, neurochemistry, central nervous system lesions, pharmacological assays, protein detection and identification, psychophysical procedures and computational and mathematical modeling. The current research aims to deepen our understanding of the neural circuitry, neuroendocrine interrelationship, receptor expression in the developing and damaged brain, and the sensory and cognitive mechanisms in human and non-human animals.
